About the program

AIRAH’s national Mentorship Program connects long-serving AIRAH members (of five years or more) with other AIRAH members* across Australia.

With a wealth of experience and knowledge amongst our members, the AIRAH Mentorship Program is aligned with our mission to create an Australian HVAC&R industry that is highly skilled and professional, safe, sustainable, and environmentally effective.

This program is free to apply and participate in as part of membership with AIRAH.

Both mentors and mentees will have the opportunity to learn from their partner and develop their networks, experiences, and careers.

Participation in this program is eligible for continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

Program duration
One year, with an option to extend

Commitment
Minimum of four sessions per year between mentor/mentee

For prospective mentors and mentees

Acceptance into this program is via an application process.

Being confirmed as an AIRAH mentor or mentee is a great achievement, but also brings an expectation of time commitment and responsibility from our participants.

AIRAH recommends a minimum of one hour per quarter, with either a face-to-face meeting (if in the same state) or online meeting (via your platform of preference). Meetings are negotiable between mentor and mentee, but we ask that participants commit to their participation in the program for a minimum of one year, and that participants agree to communicate with their partner.

AIRAH will maintain a confidential record of mentors and mentees, with a survey sent to our participants at the six- and 12-month mark for feedback of the program.

Program structure

Stage 1

Prospective mentors apply to the program.

Stage 2

Applications are reviewed by AIRAH's program coordinator on a rolling basis.

Stage 3

Acceptances are sent out. Once confirmed, mentors are displayed on AIRAH's website (on a page accessible exclusively to AIRAH members*).

Stage 4

Starting in May 2023, prospective mentees browse through the mentors list and select up to three on their mentee application.

Stage 5

Mentors are informed when prospective mentees have selected them. They accept or decline the candidate(s) that they would like to be matched with.

Stage 6

AIRAH facilitates the connection between the pair and provides resources to assist with a successful mentor/mentee relationship.

Stage 7

Mentors and mentees connect, with a commitment to a minimum of four sessions over the course of a year.
