APER CPD requirements
Throughout your working life, undertaking continuing professional
development (CPD) is an important way to expand your knowledge, maintain
up-to-date technical skills, and progress your HVAC&R building services
career.
To ensure engineers holding APER status are of the highest standard of
contemporary practice, we require evidence of relevant CPD activity.
CPD activity is RECOMMENDED for all AIRAH
members, and MANDATORY for all APER
applicants/holders.
This is a vital pillar of an APER accreditation and our CPD requirements
were established to meet the expectations of government, profession,
industry, and public.
Applicants must provide a record of 150 hours of completed CPD over the last
three years
AIRAH recognises seven major types of CPD activities:
- Formal post-graduate education
- Professional development education
- Conferences and technical meetings
- Leadership positions
- Speaking (presentations)
- Writing (published works)
- Informal learning activities
Importantly, there are conditions attached to each variety of CPD.

Please note: that some States and Territories
have different CPD requirements and the above is the minimum for APER
Registration. For State and Territory endorsement and ongoing State or
Territory registration you may also be required to meet the Respective
State or Territory's requirements in addition to the above for APER.
Tracking your CPD
-
We provide an easy-to-use online diary through the
membership portal. Applicants
can use this to collate their CPD activities before uploading it in their
APER application.
-
A CPD record template is also available to download from the
APER Resources page.
