AIRAH provides input on modernising the NCC
To address the housing crisis and boost productivity in the building and construction sector, Commonwealth Treasury asked for feedback on ways of streamlining and modernising the National Construction Code.
The paper sought feedback in four areas:
- Governance and process, including the roles of the Australian Building Codes Board and the state and territory building ministers, as well as how often the NCC should be updated
- Complexity and regulatory burden, focusing on ways of simplifying the code
- Usability and accessibility, with a view to making the NCC more effective in a digitised world that is increasingly using AI
- Innovation and housing diversity, including how modern methods of construction can be enabled through the NCC.
AIRAH has submitted a response to the consultation with input from a range of members. If you are interested in participating in future consultations on the NCC, please reach out to [email protected]
