How to apply for APER in Western Australia
This page outlines the application process for being listed on the APER
Western Australia.

APER Western Australia Guidelines, which provide the necessary information for understanding the APER
program.
To be listed on the AIRAH Professional Engineer Register (APER) you must
demonstrate that you are qualified and competent. You will need to provide
documentation in support of your application.
- All application for an APER accrediation are submitted online
- Your physical document will have to be scanned and saved
- Please ensure your documentation is prepared and ready to upload

Documents must be uploaded as PDFs and be under 10mb in size
As you begin the online application process, you will be guided through the
steps. It is designed so you can see the process, including which steps you
have completed and those that are outstanding. If interrupted, you can save
and exit your application and return to it later. You may also view the
documents you have uploaded at any time.
Each of the eight steps must be fully completed before recognition can be
obtained. You will need to confirm completion and include the date of
completion in order to proceed.
Stage 1: Membership and enrolment
Step 1: Account creation
Create an AIRAH account online if you
don't have one yet.
Step 2: Contact details
Confirm your contact details and, if applicable, indicate an area of
specialisation in which you operate within the mechanical engineer –
HVAC&R building services discipline.
Step 3: Proof of identity
Confirm your identity in accordance with the recognised 100-point identity
check utilised within relevant state and federal government agencies.
Supporting documents must be certified by an authorised witness.

Stage 2: Eligibility and experience
Step 4: Qualifications
Provide your qualifications and upload supporting documents as proof. All
qualifications must be submitted in English as PDF documents and they must
be certified by an authorised witness.

Step 5: Professional and ethical conduct
Confirm your commitment to the APER Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct.
Step 6: CPD diary
Upload your continuing professional development activities as part of your
application. You can download and save our online AIRAH CPD diary or compile
the relevant activities in your own document.

Step 7: Resumé
Upload your detailed resumé containing work experience; demonstration of
your competence and commitment; and referee details. This step requires the
most information. A
resumé template is available for download
to help you with this step.
Once you have uploaded your detailed resumé, your application will be
reviewed by the AIRAH Registrar to determine eligibility and completeness.
The AIRAH Registrar will mark this step as “Complete” and then distribute
your application to an assessor.
Stage 3: Assessment
Step 8: Interview and assessment
In the final step of your APER application, you will be contacted to arrange
an interview. Your two professional referees will also be interviewed.
