APER ACT eligibility
To apply for accreditation on the AIRAH Professional Engineer Register (APER) for ACT you must provide evidence that you have the required qualifications, knowledge, and professional experience and competence.
The eligibility requirements for APER ACT were set to exceed the international standard for engineer registration and are aligned with the requirements of the Act Government for the ACT Professional Engineer Registration Scheme.
To be eligible for AIRAH Professional Engineer Register (APER) ACT status, you must:
1. Hold a relevant qualification
Have completed an acceptable qualification in one of the disciplines of engineering. Acceptable qualifications include a:
- Four-year, full-time bachelor’s degree or a Master of Engineering from an accredited Australian institution;
- Part-time equivalent degree;
- Previously recognised historical equivalent qualification;
- Qualification gained elsewhere that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.
2. Have relevant experience
Have been working in the field of mechanical engineering – HVAC&R building services for a minimum of five years post-graduation, have the relevant work experience, and be able to demonstrate that this has translated into competence and commitment in your discipline.
3. Provide references
Have two other suitable engineers vouch for your work experience.
