industry‑relevant insight.
Overview
Running over seven months, this online course covers practical training for
a graduate engineering role in the HVAC industry. The course features nearly
100 hours of content across four key areas:
Block 2
Equipment and Components
Block 4
Practice and Performance
Each block will run for seven-weeks. Throughout the course you will attend
online classes, read through material, and complete group assessment tasks
to reinforce your learning. This course provides an excellent opportunity
for you to begin establishing networking opportunities early on in your
career.
The Professional Diploma in Building Services – HVAC&R course will fast
track your knowledge of HVAC&R, better your understanding of industry
processes, and will give you the confidence in assuming greater
responsibility in your role to produce better project outcomes.

- Week 3 - Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer Applied to Buildings
- Week 4 - Psychrometrics & Air Conditioning Processes
- Week 5 - Heat Load Estimation & Design Assumptions
- Week 6 - Comfort, Acoustics & Indoor Environmental Quality
- Week 7 - HVAC Systems, Refrigerants & Compliance Awareness
Block 2 – Equipment and Components
Develop equipment literacy and application awareness.
Building upon the foundations established in Module 1, gain an introduction
to major HVAC equipment, learn about operating principles and performance
characteristics, and gain an understanding of how to interpret equipment
data, ratings and limitations.

consulting engineering or mechanical contracting firm
-
You must have a fundamental understanding of common place HVAC systems and
components and the ability to source real-world information about these
systems from the local market
-
You will need to demonstrate the ability to research independently,
effectively manage your time to meet submission deadlines, and determine
answers to design problems
-
Access to a mentor with 15-20 years' experience in HVAC design is
recommended for additional support that you may require.
Participants must be competent in both written and spoken English and have
regular access to a computer and internet connection.
If you do not currently understand, or have experience with, HVAC systems
and components, please consider registering for the AIRAH Accredited
Professional Certificate in HVAC&R Fundamentals
course prior to enrolling in this course.
