University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) Site Visit recap

May 22, 2024

AIRAH’s Queensland division recently conducted a site tour at UniSC Moreton Bay, incorporating the central energy plantroom within the Foundation Building and a walk-through of the new Buildings: A2, A3, and A4.

The three new buildings at the Moreton Bay campus are the first UniSC buildings to use cross-laminated timber as the primary vertical structure. The timber used is made from Australian plantations that regenerate in just 45 minutes.

Facilities in the second stage include additional teaching and learning spaces, research laboratories, an engagement hub, gym and sports hall, sports science facility, student hub and breakout spaces, outdoor spaces, and amenities as well as multi-level parking. A.G. Coombs Senior Engineer John Bourne, M. AIRAH, lead the tour and presentation on the design and installation lessons for the laboratories and the CHW control.

With thanks to John Bourne, M.AIRAH Senior Engineer with A.G. Coombs Advisory and Luke Anderson, Building Services Manager at University of the Sunshine Coast.
