Flammable Refrigerants Safety Guide – 2026 Update, Summary of Key Changes

To celebrate World Refrigeration Day, this webinar will explore the recently updated Flammable Refrigerants Safety Guide and the WRD theme for 2026, Cool Intelligence. The Flammable Refrigerants Safety Guide, online modules and fact files are free industry resources designed to improve awareness of how to best manage the health and safety risks associated with the use and management of flammable refrigerants in HVAC&R equipment. This webinar will highlight the key changes/ updates that were made to the guide and show attendees how to access the resources.



Speaker Greg Picker: 


Executive Director

Refrigerants Australia

Greg Picker is currently Executive Director at Refrigerants Australia, a peak organisation representing Australian refrigerant suppliers and users. Prior to this Greg spent about 15 years working in climate change policy in various roles. This includes as Associate Director with AECOM, think tanks such as the Climate Institute, the Lowy Institute and the Garnaut Secretariat, and as a senior public servant in the Australian Department of Climate Change. 

Before working for the Australian Government, Greg worked for the United Nations Framework on Climate Change. Greg has a PhD from the University of Queensland, a Masters from the University of Connecticut and a BA from Vassar College.






Speaker Simon Bradwell:

Dr Simon Bradwell, PhD, CEng, FIEAust, is Chair of the ARBS foundation and the Managing Director of ebm-papst A&NZ Pty Ltd, our market-leading air movement supplier.   

Simon works broadly with Standards Australia and the Australian Federal and State governments on fan efficiency and other motor-related issues.  His 25 years of fan industry experience and his engineering work spans Europe, Africa and Australasia. He is a Chartered Engineer with a Doctorate in Engineering from the UK. In 2015 he was recognised as a Fellow of Engineers Australia. 

He also volunteers his time to ARBS Exhibitions, AREMA, FMA-ANZ, VU and Wyndham Tech School.

Kylie Farrelley is a leader in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, bringing over two decades of experience to her role as General Manager of Refrigerant Reclaim Australia. Appointed in 2019, she has been instrumental in advancing RRA’s mission to recover and destroy ozone-depleting and synthetic greenhouse gas refrigerants. Her extensive knowledge of the refrigerant supply chain and commitment to environmental stewardship have been pivotal in steering RRA through the challenges posed by the phasedown requirements of the Montreal Protocol and the introduction of new flammable refrigerants

Paul Wright is a leading educator and industry professional in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT). With more than 44 years in the HVAC&R sector and over two decades in vocational education, Paul is recognised for his ability to connect industry practice with high-quality, future-focused training. Paul’s contributions have been recognised nationally, including the AIRAH Educator of the Year Award (2025) and induction into the ARBS Hall of Fame RACCA (2026).
