Following the completion of the Foundation Building in 2020, the stage 2 expansion includes three new buildings to accommodate for more than 4,700 students enrolled at UniSC Moreton Bay.
The three new buildings at the Moreton Bay campus are the first University of Sunshine Coast buildings to use cross-laminated timber as the primary vertical structure. The timber used is made from plantations that regenerate in just five to six minutes.
The tour will incorporate the central energy plantroom within the Foundation Building and a walk-through of the new buildings: A2, A3 and A4. The A4 building is the first mass engineered building in Australia to have a three-story atrium and house PC2 laboratories.
Facilities in the second stage include additional teaching and learning spaces, research laboratories, an industry hub and event space, student gym and sports hall, sports science facility, student hub and breakout spaces, outdoor spaces, and amenities as well as multi-level parking.
A.G. Coombs Senior Engineer John Bourne, M. AIRAH, will lead the tour and present on the design and installation lessons for the laboratories and the CHW control.
