Overview


AIRAH's accredited Professional Diploma in Sustainable HVAC Design and Operation addresses the full range of issues around environmentally effective heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. It covers sustainability considerations, responsibilities and compliance, design principles, design considerations, design processes and documentation, operational evaluation, and sustainable operations management.

The online course consists of four modules:

Individual modules involve approximately five months of activity.

Completion of the full program will take about two years of part-time study, but students may design and complete their own programs across the four modules available, relevant to their own interests and needs.

This qualification is suitable for graduate engineers (with at least three to five years’ experience), mechanical engineers, and industry practitioners with several years’ experience in the HVAC industry. It offers an advanced level of learning and skills for the HVAC industry professional.

Participants are required to demonstrate their competency and understanding through knowledge assessment tasks (including self-assessment questions, short answer question, and case studies).

There is a maximum of five months to complete each module, with an additional four months to complete the final (full program) case study assignment.

Program structure


The Professional Diploma in Sustainable HVAC Design and Operation is an online course, designed so each of the four modules can be undertaken separately, as preferred. 

Participants are able to participate in and complete:

Option A
INDIVIDUAL MODULES

Choose any/all of modules 1–4 to upgrade specific skills.

Upon successful completion of a module or modules within this program, candidates will receive a letter of completion outlining CPD hours and unit(s) completed. This will also include a statement of results.

Option A
PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA

Complete the full program by finishing all four modules, including a final case study.

Successful candidates will receive the AIRAH accredited Professional Diploma in Sustainable HVAC Design and Operation program certificate.

This module addresses the design process and documentation of sustainable HVAC systems.

The aim of this module is to provide HVAC designers with a comprehensive knowledge of where and how energy is used in HVAC systems, and assessment tools and techniques.

TOPIC 3 Operational strategies
TOPIC 4 Managing sustainability

Participants who undertake and pass all four modules must complete a final case study to successfully complete the AIRAH Professional Diploma in Sustainable HVAC Design and Operation. Participants will have four months to complete the case study.

Participants must be competent in both written and spoken English and have regular access to a computer and internet connection.
