About this course


This one-day course is offered as a face-to-face, online, or in-house session.

The course will teach various methods to gather and analyse data in order to:

  • Identify building tuning opportunities
  • Recommend cost-effective actions
  • Evaluate the tuning program’s effectiveness.
Participants will also learn about the background and required skills for managing a comprehensive building tuning program that will engage stakeholders and drive outcomes.

  • Understand the various benefits of a building tuning program and be able to evaluate the performance and success of the program
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive building tuning program incorporating the four phases of the retro commissioning process
  • Use information from a Building Monitoring and Control System (BMCS) to gather data and diagnose building performance issues
  • Investigate and identify building tuning opportunities for HVAC, lighting and other systems
  • Appreciate the importance of various stakeholders in the building tuning process, and the impact stakeholder engagement can have on the ultimate success of a building tuning program
  • Establish goals and targets for a building, based on current performance

Enrolment in the Building Tuning course is capped at 15 people.

This course does not include any formal assessment, but participants will be involved in a number of design workshop activities relating to the course content throughout the day.

Enrolment in and completion of this course is eligible for 7.5 continuing professional development (CPD) hours. AIRAH recommends members undertake 50 hours of CPD each year.
