Management and control of heat: Reflection and lessons learned

This presentation will share the findings and lessons learnt from a study on the management and control of heat. We will show the link between passive natural heat, ambient to sensible temperature, and the alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11, 7 and 3. The result is an intelligent design and solution. The topics of indoor air quality and passive natural airflow are researched and investigated through one item: the “façade”.

Two case studies – one each from the University of Sydney and Western Sydney University will be discussed, comparing and contrasting single- and double-skin facades. An underlying imperative in our work is that people’s thermal comfort is of prime importance.
