VIC - RMIT New Academic Street Site Visit

VIC - RMIT New Academic Street Site Visit
Join AIRAH for a site visit to RMIT University’s redeveloped city campus: New Academic Street buildings 8 to 14. The tour guide for the evening will be Nick Bamford, Associate Director at AECOM and Building Services Design Lead for the RMIT NAS project.

The RMIT University Campus was redeveloped to create a revitalised student hub, including a $220 million refurbishment of the lower five floors across buildings 8 to 14 – four 1960s buildings. Sections of the existing facades were opened up to provide greater connectivity to the rest of the campus and city.

Nick will share insights into the challenges of the design and construction phases, such as the complex staging requirements and maintaining operation of existing parts of the building.
