Ian Harwood, F.AIRAH – President

Ian is a Director of HDConsult – Consulting Engineers. He is based in Perth and has over 20 years’ experience in the building services industry with an avid interest in the technical side of the industry, and is active in the design and management of projects. He boasts considerable experience working on a broad expanse of building types, with particular expertise in high-rise residential, hotel and commercial buildings. Ian has a special interest in designing for humid climates, and is passionate about training and development for younger engineers.


Bryon Price, F.AIRAH – Director

Bryon Price is a mechanical engineer with notable experience in energy efficient buildings. He is strategic development director for the A.G. Coombs Group and has been responsible for a wide range of energy and environmental projects. These have included innovative and award winning long term energy management roles with a number of major financial, commercial and retail organisations, and various Commonwealth and State Government Departments. Out of this experience his particular area of knowledge and interest is “whole of life” energy and environmental management in buildings. Bryon also has a strong track record of constructive and successful industry and policy advocacy.


Chris Flanagan, M.AIRAH – Director

Chris is state general manager Queensland for AE Smith. Chris has worked as both a mechanical consultant and contractor in the Australian and UK building services industries for more than 20 years. He is passionate about the need for positive change in energy efficiency. Chris is proud to have been involved in numerous projects that have won industry accolades for alternative approaches to traditional air conditioning, resulting in significant operational and environmental benefits.


Liza Taylor, M.AIRAH – Director

Liza is the CEO and co-founder of Global IQ Group, a management consulting company specialising in the HVAC&R, sustainability and technology arena. She has spent the past 20 years working for some of Australia’s most loved brands – 3M, George Weston Foods, Pacific Brands, Hunter Douglas, and ActronAir. Her specialty is transforming ideas into business growth opportunities. 
She has over 10 years experience in the HVAC&R industry. Her passion for business improvement led to the completion of a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with The University of Technology. This project conducted an in-depth study with Housing Industry Association (HIA) to identify trends in the Residential HVAC category. Liza has completed a MBA (Executive) at AGSM and is a Co-op Scholar with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of New South Wales.


Paul Jackson, F.AIRAH – Director 

Paul is the National Contracts Manager for Engineering Commissioning Services (ECS) based in Perth. He has over 35 years of experience in the building services industry. Having entered the industry as a service engineer, he has been involved in field diagnostics and commissioning of a wide variety of building services plant. Paul has a varied skill set encompassing mechanical, electrical, air conditioning, associated control systems and BMS systems.
He has been extensively involved in the commissioning and project completion field including a range of very simple minor systems serving residential or light commercial through to large central plant systems in the resource sector in many parts of the world.
Paul also has also worked in various industry sectors including service, procurement, manufacturing, design and installation. Prior to ECS Paul has worked for IBMS and Envar Engineers and Contractors.


Stefan Jensen, F.AIRAH – Director 

Stefan is the Managing Director of Scantec a leading Australian specialist industrial refrigeration company. In 1978, Stefan graduated in Denmark majoring in Refrigeration and Heat Pumps and has accumulated over 40 years' experience in refrigeration plant and heat exchanger design.
Stefan is a registered Professional Engineer in Queensland, Australia and is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) in Washington, USA. With decades of engineering experience in industrial refrigeration, Stefan is renowned as a pioneer and an expert in energy efficient systems and natural refrigerants, and is called upon to deliver presentations around the world at conferences on the topic.


Nathan Groenhout, F.AIRAH – Discretionary Director 

Nathan is a business leader with over 20 years experience in mid to large firms achieving business results by understanding and managing risk, focusing on outcomes and building lasting relationships with clients, stakeholders and staff. He has demonstrated experience in building teams profitably in competitive environments through developing people, developing solid relationships with staff and clients, strategic planning, risk management and organisational development. He is passionate about creating highly engaged teams aligned to a strong, coherent vision.

Tony Gleeson, M.AIRAH – Chief Executive Officer

Tony has over 25 years of international experience in the field of leadership, project and change management, and organisational integration.
He is an innovative and energetic leader, skilled communicator and team builder, and an adept negotiator. He is recognised as a strategic business partner to executives throughout an organisation, developing and implementing projects and programs that facilitate attainment of corporate growth, revenue, and profit goals (both in a corporate and not-for-profit membership environments).
He has developed and implemented strategies and policies for organisations such as PWC, Deloitte, CPA Australia and the Australian Institute of Management.
