About the webinar

This webinar will introduce and provide an overview of air filters. It will also investigate why and how they act as a vital component in maintaining the health of people in a building.

In addition to a broad discussion on filter design and applications, we will look at:
  • The need for treating outdoor and indoor air
  • An air filter’s impact on occupant health
  • An overview of filter standards.
The presentation will explore the reasons for updating DA15, first published in 1998. It will detail some of the filter developments and modernised testing methodology.

Daniel has worked in the air filters industry for over 40 years and has been involved in the review and development of AIRAH‘s updated DA15 manual.

Updates to DA15

This DA manual has been designed to provide a complete overview of filter and air cleaner usage in HVAC&R. It begins with an examination of outdoor and indoor air contaminants and the role filters and air cleaners can play in maintaining safe and healthy indoor environments.

DA15 first focuses on particulate air filters; the principles and fundamentals of filter operation; classification; and performance. The manual then addresses the issues around implementing filters in air distribution systems, including system design and optimisation; filter selection and specification; system installation; and commissioning. It continues through to handover, operation, and maintenance.

The publication also examines other air cleaning technologies and devices, including a comprehensive consideration of gas phase air cleaners (GPAC) and ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) technologies and applications.
