Seasonal efficiency ratings

Energy Rating Labels and Minimum Energy Performance Standards have assisted government, industry, and consumers in selecting efficient air conditioners since the early 1990s.

Recently, a new rating system has been introduced in recognition of how air conditioners are used. This system applies seasonal performance factors to calculate weighted ratings based on three climate zones with hourly temperature data.

Knox will explore the available partial-load information and how it is applied to determine the seasonal performance factors. He will provide an explanation for residential climate zones and commercial rating calculations. This overview will be helpful to designers and engineers to understand energy efficiency data and ratings.
