This page outlines the application process for becoming an ARPEng.

For complete details, please download the ARPEng Guidelines which will provide you with the necessary information for understanding the ARPEng program.

Assessment to become an AIRAH Registered Professional Engineer (ARPEng) requires you to demonstrate that you are qualified and competent. You will need to provide documentation in support of your application.

Please note that documents must be uploaded as PDFs and that files should be under 10MB in size.

As you begin the online application process, you will be guided through the steps. It is designed so you can see the process, including which steps you have completed and those that are outstanding. If interrupted, you can save and exit your application and return to it later. You may also view the documents you have uploaded at any time.

You may view your progress at any point during the application process.

Each of the eight steps must be fully completed before recognition can be obtained. You will need to confirm completion and include the date of completion in order to proceed.

Step 1
AIRAH membership

You must be an AIRAH member to apply for and hold an ARPEng accreditation. Click here for more information on our memberships.

Step 2
Contact details

You are required to confirm your contact details at “My account”, and within “My ARPEng” confirm your discipline as Mechanical Engineer – HVAC&R. While it is not mandatory, you can also nominate an area of specialisation in which you operate within the discipline.

Step 3
Proof of identity

You are required to provide proof of identity by meeting the requirements of the 100 point identity check. Click here for details of the  proof of identity and proof of qualifications requirements.

Please visit this page to check you are eligible for ARPEng.

Step 4

You will need to provide your qualifications and upload supporting documents as proof. All qualifications must be submitted in English as a PDF document and they must be certified by an authorised witness. Click here for details of the proof of identity and proof of qualifications requirements.

Step 5
Professional and Ethical Conduct

You will need to confirm your commitment to AIRAH’s Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct.

Step 6
CPD diary

Your continuing professional development activities will need to be uploaded as part of your application. To do this, you can download and save our online AIRAH CPD diary or compile the relevant activities in your own document.

Click here for more information on AIRAH’s CPD.

Step 7

You will need to upload your detailed resume containing examples of work experience, competence and commitment and referee details. This step requires the most information. Click here for the ARPEng Resume Guidelines to help you complete the ARPEng Resume Template.

Once you have uploaded your detailed resumé, your application will be reviewed by the AIRAH Registrar to determine eligibility and completeness. The AIRAH Registrar will mark this step as “Complete” and then distribute your application to an assessor.

Step 8
Interview and assessment

In the final step of your ARPEng application, you will be contacted to arrange an interview. Your two professional referees will also be interviewed.
