International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR)

As vice president and technical director of the IIAR, Smith’s responsibilities include the management of standards development; consultation and assistance to IIAR committees; coordination of research and regulatory guidance efforts; and assistance with advocacy. He also develops the annual conference’s technical program and provides technical assistance to IIAR members and the public. Smith represents the IIAR in related organisations and writes and reviews technical articles for the IIAR quarterly newsletter – The Condenser. His career includes several years as an HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designer and as an HVAC&R technician.
