Building Tuning

Overview

Building Tuning is a one-day course. Participants will learn how advanced building tuning techniques can improve energy efficiency and thermal comfort in buildings.

The course will teach various methods to gather and analyse data in order to:
  • Identify building tuning opportunities
  • Recommend cost-effective actions
  • Evaluate the tuning program’s effectiveness. 
Participants will also learn about the background and required skills for managing a comprehensive building tuning program that will engage stakeholders and drive outcomes.

Topic highlights

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

 Understand the various benefits of a building tuning program and be able to evaluate the performance and success of the program

Investigate and identify building tuning opportunities for HVAC, lighting and other systems

Develop and implement a comprehensive building tuning program incorporating the four phases of the retro commissioning process

Appreciate the importance of various stakeholders in the building tuning process, and the impact stakeholder engagement can have on the ultimate success of a building tuning program

Use information from a Building Monitoring and Control System (BMCS) to gather data and diagnose building performance issues

Establish goals and targets for a building, based on current performance

In response to the escalating COVID-19 situation, in early March AIRAH suspended its in-person events. This included our face-to-face training sessions and divisional seminars. We continue to monitor the situation and thank you for your support and understanding.

Following weeks of development, we have successfully set up a virtual classroom for the online delivery of this course.

Technical requirements
  • Participant should have a stable internet connection
  • Participant will be required to provide their own equipment, including a laptop or desktop computer with webcam and good audio. To allow for participant questions and engagement, it is preferred that you have an internal or external computer microphone.
