AIRAH Ammonia
refrigeration plant operations courses AIRAH has been providing ammonia refrigeration training to industry for the past five years by way of a 5½-day Ammonia Plant Operations course and a 2-day Ammonia Emergency Response course. In 2005 these courses were modified to suit the needs of industry by splitting the courses into two ammonia plant operations courses with the ammonia emergency response course now integrated into the second course.

It is therefore recommended that participants book for the desired course/s at their earliest convenience. Should your required date be already filled we will notify you of other course dates available. In-house training can also be arranged. Course in Industrial Refrigeration (Plant Operation) - VBQ039, 3 days This course is suited to anyone that works in an ammonia refrigeration plant, particularly fitters/turners, electricians, boiler makers, contractors and other non refrigeration trained staff. The course outlines the operational principles and safety requirements of an industrial ammonia refrigeration plant and the skills required to be a competent plant operator.

Pricing 3 days (AIRAH members - $1750) (Non-members - $2310) Optional 4th day (AIRAH members - $2333) (Non-members - $3080) Prices are inclusive of GST Industrial refrigeration plant operations and ammonia emergency response (Level 2) - 5 days This course will cover the more advanced operations of an ammonia refrigeration plant as well as comprehensive ammonia emergency theory, practical drills, decontamination, ammonia leaks, simulated ammonia emergency drills etc. The course is suitable for staff that have completed the AIRAH ammonia refrigeration plant operations Course 1 as well as anyone that has responsibility for an ammonia refrigeration plant, eg. managers, supervisors, plant and facilities engineers, contractors, OH&S staff and people responsible for any emergency situation should also complete this course. This course includes one day at the dedicated CFA Training facility at Fiskville where practical drills and ammonia demonstrations will take place. Participants will be bussed up to Fiskville and returned for this training (covered in cost of course). Note: To participate in the practical drills at the CFA Fiskville facility it will be necessary for participants to have prior breathing apparatus (BA) training as drills will be conducted in BA suits. If participants do not have this training they can still complete the course but will only be able to observe the simulated emergency drills. Some of the topics covered are:

companies onsite. PresenterAndrew Pang has over 25 years of teaching experience in the refrigeration and air-conditioning industries, both trade and para-professional areas. He has been a lecturer at RMIT since 1974 and has been heavily involved in course structure, curriculum development and implementation. He has also worked on projects for government bodies and private organisations. Andrew has over 12 years of consulting experience, providing expertise in the fields of installation and commissioning of various refrigeration and air conditioning plants. His depth of knowledge on ammonia refrigeration has earned him a high level of respect within the industry. Accomodation is available at the Monte Villa Motel, 78 Old Geelong Rd, Hoppers Crossing, at a rate of $87 per night for a standard room. Courses start at 8am on the first day, so participants are advised to book accomodation for the evening prior to the course. The motel is approximately 3km from the Training Centre.
