Microbial
control of building cooling water systems
Managing
Legionella and your risk - AS/NZS3666 Parts 1, 2, 3
Life threatening
Legionella outbreaks continue to be a problem throughout Australia.
Any company that has a responsibility for cooling towers, from the design
stage through to ownership, facility management and maintenance must
understand and fulfil their public health obligations.
Seminar Summary
This seminar introduces participants to the science of microbial control
in cooling water systems from an engineering perspective. This seminar
will help ensure your employees are more aware of the health risks and
legal ramifications of a poorly designed or maintained cooling tower
and how to ensure risks are minismised.
Key topics
• Australian Standard AS/NZS3666, and state regulations
• What to do about warm water systems
• Medical and microbiological features of Legionella
and the disease it causes
• Proper design for total microbial control
• Water treatment and cooling tower maintenance to achieve ongoing
control
• Risk management principles and how to apply them to cooling
water systems
• Up-to-date research findings
This course is ideal for:
• Mechanical design engineers
• Graduate design engineers
• Service and maintenance personnel
• Property owners and managers
• Environmental health officers
• Hospital and hotel engineers
