Graded Membership
Open to any Affiliate Members that can show a mix of qualifications, experience, and responsibility working as a professional or practitioner in the HVAC&R industry.
Graded Members can make use of either the M.AIRAH or AM.AIRAH depending on the outcome of their grading application.
Eligibility for M.AIRAH
To qualify as a Member (M.AIRAH), you must meet one of the following:
- Hold a degree or a recognised equivalent in engineering or physical science and have been actively engaged in HVAC&R for not less than three years, two years of which have been in responsible charge of work.
- Hold a certificate or recognised equivalent in engineering or physical science and have been actively engaged in HVAC&R for not less than eight years, three years of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
- Have been in responsible charge of work involving technical decisions in the design, construction, or teaching of HVAC&R for a period of five years and have been actively engaged in HVAC&R for not less than twelve years.
Eligibility for AM.AIRAH
To qualify as an Associate Member (AM.AIRAH), you must meet one of the following:
- Hold an approved certificate in engineering or physical science and have been actively engaged in the Industry for not less than four years.
- Have been actively engaged in the Industry for a period of not less than eight years, three years of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
- Are in a branch of the industry in which a relevant apprenticeship has been completed, and after completing this apprenticeship shall have been actively engaged in the industry for not less than six years.

How to become an AIRAH Graded Member
To become an AIRAH Graded Member, you must first be an Affiliate Member. If you think you meet the eligibility critera listed above, you may apply using the grading form linked below.
The next step for Graded Members
The next level of membership is Fellow Membership. Applications for this type of membership are open to graded members who have made significant contributions to the HVAC&R industry, and have typically been members with AIRAH for at least 10 years.
