Guidelines for presentation of report

Applications will only be considered if the submitted energy audit report substantially conforms to the requirements of Sections 13 & 14 of AS/NZS 3598:2000 Energy Audits to Level 3.

Minimum Report Requirements:

  1. Table of contents
  2. Executive summary highlighting major findings, recommended implementation plan and implementation costs for both capital works and general management options, and predicted savings
  3. Description of audit site and services including products manufactured (for industrial audits)
  4. Data on existing energy consumption, including monthly and annual energy usage and costs, energy profiles (weekly, daily and hourly). Where available profiles should be reviewed to identify seasonal, daily trends related to changes in temperature or level of production (if applicable)
  5. Observations on operation of audit site building(s), process and plant, including out of hours operations
  6. Analysis of energy usage data including energy performance indicators and their comparison with industry norms
  7. Estimation of annual energy consumption of each major end use and reconciliation against actual billed usage
  8. Relevant engineering, environmental and financial calculations used to determine economic worth of recommendations
  9. A list of recommendations, including implementation costs, predicted savings and financial evaluations such as payback or internal rate of return
  10. Recommendations should be prioritised according to return on investment. For straightforward energy saving measures where no detailed design or further investigation is required, sufficient detail should be provided so as to enable quotations to be invited without further external assistance
  11. An indication of the potential greenhouse gas reduction (tonnes/yr of CO2) associated with each recommendation should be provided
  12. The detailed analysis of the site or process to determine where, when and how energy is used should include, but not be limited to, evaluation of the audit site's building operation and services, plant and equipment operation, control systems, maintenance schedules, hours of operation and analysis of staff working hours, including cleaners. Identification between predicted energy use and actual energy use
