R.G Kayler-Thomson Memorial Scholarship

The AIRAH R.G. Kayler-Thomson Memorial Scholarship has been established to provide a deserving undergraduate mechanical engineering student in Victoria, undertaking studies related to refrigeration, air conditioning and heating, with a scholarship of up to $13,000. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
  • Must be enrolled in the RMIT Mechanical Engineering degree program and have completed Thermo-Fluid Mechanics 1 & 2, with a distinction or higher score in both courses.
  • Must have academic results which give a cumulative Grade Point Average across all first and second year courses of at least 2.5.
  • Must be prepared to attend an awards night to receive the scholarship and be available for media interviews.

The scholarship is awarded in two parts: $6,500 at the beginning of the student’s third year of study, plus a further $6,500 at the beginning of the student’s fourth year once enrolment in the mechanical elective course Applied Heat & Mass Transfer has been confirmed, and a project in the Thermo-Fluids field has been selected to do in the core courses, Project 1 and Project 2.
