About AIRAH
AIRAH has a long and proud history
of representing an industry of professionals who are of fundamental, and
increasing, importance to the comfort, health and safety of the community.
Formed in 1920, AIRAH is recognised by government and industry bodies
for its expertise across a wide range of issues in the area of engineering
services for the built environment.
AIRAH is the official Australian secretariat of the International Institute
of Refrigeration (IIR), is affiliated with the International Institute
of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) and collaborates closely with the American
Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
AIRAH is also an inaugural member of the Green Building Council of Australia
(GBCAus).
AIRAH encourages world’s
best practice within the industry. Through continuing professional development,
accreditation programs and a wide range of technical publications, AIRAH
has earned a reputation for developing the competence and skills of industry
practitioners so that they can better meet society’s evolving health,
safety and environmental demands.
As the leading specialist membership association for air conditioning,
refrigeration, heating and ventilation professionals, AIRAH represents
over 10,000 professionals across Australia. In operation for over 80 years,
AIRAH’s longevity stems from its strong links with like-minded organisations
around the world and the successful delivery of key member benefits including
representation, dissemination of technical information, networking, member
recognition and education and training.

The
49th annual general meeting of the Australian Institute of Refrigeration,
Air Conditioning and Heating (Inc) will be held on Wednesday April 23
at 3:30pm at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, Meeting Room
1, Level 1 (upstairs).
The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
1 – Welcome and report by AIRAH president, John Bosci
2 – Confirmation of minutes of the 48th annual general meeting (held
on May 31, 2007)
3 – Treasurer’s report
4 – Presentation of audited accounts
5 – Election of auditors
6 – Special resolution: adoption of revisions to AIRAH’s constitution
7 – General business: to transact any business which may lawfully
be brought forward
8 – Presidential citations and service awards
9 – Next meeting
10 – Close
All members and visitors are cordially invited to attend.

John is the president of AIRAH. He holds a Diploma in
Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
He is director of Alecam Pty Ltd. |

Past President
Grant Hall |
Grant holds a Dip App.
Sci (Hort) from Dookie Agricultural College in Victoria. He is a
member of AIRAH and has been a director of Muller Industries since
it was acquired from the Muller family in 1999. Although not from
an engineering background, Grant has been the driving force revitalising
the old Muller company. |

Capital Territory
Robert Liesegang |
Robert has been the involved
with AIRAH since 1997, and has been ACT division president for the
past three years. He is the ACT region engineering services manager
for Multiplex Facilities Management Pty Ltd. He is a trade qualified
air conditioning technician and is also a part-time lecturer at
Canberra Institute of Technology. |

South Wales
Sean Treweek |
Sean has a B.E.
Mech (Hons) and M.Des.Sc, both from the University of Sydney . He
has been a member of AIRAH for a number of years and has presented
at various division meetings. He has been actively involved in the
NSW division committee for 4 years, 2 as NSW division President. His
current role is as a Director of VOS Group Consulting Engineers.

Director - Queensland
Mike Palmer |
Mike is the engineering
manager of Haden Engineering Pty Ltd in Brisbane. Since commencing
into the HVAC contracting industry in the 1980's he has worked with
Palmer Air Conditioning and Hawkins Jenkins Ross consulting engineers.
Mike has served AIRAH well, as state president for some years and
in educational and committe roles. |

Kevin O'Reilly |
Kevin has been involved
with AIRAH’s South Australian committee since 2001 and was
state president from 2003 – 2005. His HVAC career began
in the 1980s as a refrigeration technician, specialising in commissioning
air conditioning plant. He has worked for Adelaide-based consulting
firm System Solutions Engineering since its formation in 1996. |

Director - Tasmania
John Hawker |
John is the proprietor of the Hobart-based company Pacific Fans,
which he started in 2002. He began his career with the Royal Australian
Air Force, working on aircraft maintenance. He then worked for D Richardson
and Son in a Tasmanian sales and marketing role for 25 years. John
has been an AIRAH member for over 20 years. |

Director - Victoria
Nicholas Duncan |
Nicholas is general manager of Hydro-Chem, the largest Australian
owned water treatment service provider. Nicholas worked as a lawyer
for a major corporate law firm for a number of years after completing
a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws at Monash University. Nicholas'
involvement with AIRAH began with the development of the Victorian
Code of Practice for Water Treatment Service Providers and the accreditation
program for services technicians and water treatment companies. Nicholas
continues to be actively involved with many aspects of AIRAH with
a focus on water management and ecological sustainability. |

Australia
Peter van Beem |
Peter is with Mechanical Project Management Pty Ltd, one of the
leading mechanical services providers in Perth. He has been in the
HVAC industry for the past 30 years and gained vast experience in
all facets of the industry, from technician to regional manager. Peter
has been very active in the industry as a board member on several
other HVAC industry bodies and is still an active AIRAH committee
member.
