AIRAH Awards 2009 - The winners
Awards were presented for excellence in sustainability; excellence in innovation; future leader; solar energy in HVAC&R; and best technical paper. AIRAH’s highest honour, the James Harrison Medal, was also presented.
The Excellence in Sustainability Award was won by Waterman AHW for its work on Workplace6, the first 6 Star Green Star As Built Office Building in New South Wales.
AIRAH’s Excellence in Innovation Award recognises a distinguished Australian product, project, invention or innovation, and was earned by the AirLight integrated ceiling services system.
AIRAH’s Future Leader Award was won by the CSIRO’s Dr Josh Wall, who earned the plaudit for his substantial contribution to the HVAC&R sector through research and development, and for the implementation of advanced building control technologies in Australian commercial office buildings.
The winner of the 2009 Denis Joseph Award for innovative use of solar energy in HVAC&R was Paul Kohlenbach from Solem Consulting.
The W.R. Ahearn Award is presented for the best technical paper by an AIRAH member published in Ecolibrium, the official journal of AIRAH. Rob Lord from Cundall won the 2009 award for his paper, “Designing personal microclimates with workstation-based air conditioning.”
The highest honour AIRAH can bestow upon an individual is the James Harrison Medal.The medal was conferred upon Ron Conry for his pivotal role in assembling a world-class team to develop an efficient oil-free compressor.
