AIRAH Awards 2022 winner
Jason Jarvinen, Stud.AIRAH

University of South Australia

Jason Jarvinen, Stud.AIRAH, has transitioned from a successful industry career in HVAC and building automation to performing cutting-edge research in his PhD studies. His studies focus on utilising HVAC as a source of flexible demand in the electricity market, while managing occupant comfort.

Jarvinen’s work has included both modelling and real-world case study demonstration. This is relevant and timely for the industry in light of AEMO’s change to a five-minute settlement period, and the introduction of the Wholesale Demand Response mechanism.

Balancing the competing demands of contributing new knowledge in the field, while providing industry with solutions that are highly practical and economically viable, Jarvinen’s work has contributed to knowledge sharing in the International Energy Agency.
