Smartair Diffusion

Smartemp Helical Vari-Swirl Diffuser

Many variable geometry electronic VAV swirl diffusers share a top-entry, single horizontal damper disc design, motorised vertically to alter the height of a circumferential aperture. For a given static pressure, this varies the airflow rate at a substantially constant discharge velocity, achieving extended throw when turned down.

The objective of developing the Smartemp Helical Vari-Swirl Diffuser was to create a high capacity, low-pressure, low-profile, side-entry electronic VAV swirl diffuser with inbuilt room temperature and indoor air quality sensing that realises a large VAV range (turndown to at least 15 per cent) and extended horizontal throw when turned down, to provide enhanced fan energy savings while achieving high thermal control and comfort.
