Collaborating on embodied carbon

March 28, 2024

AIRAH advocates for the transition to a net zero future. As part of this, we are helping to tackle the challenge of reducing embodied emissions. This means not just making sure our buildings operate as sustainably as possible, but also that the materials we use and the construction methods we employ are low in carbon.

To advance this work, AIRAH’s Advocacy and Policy Manager Mark Vender attended a special DBI workshop about embodied carbon on Friday, March 22, at the University of Melbourne.

The event brought together stakeholders from industry, government, and academia to discuss how to coordinate efforts on reducing embodied carbon. Participants included NABERS, MECLA, the GBCA, and ASBEC, as well as researchers from many universities.

AIRAH shares information about embodied carbon initiatives through our events and publications, and co-chairs the MECLA Working Group on Building Services.
